Local Area

Pevensey Bay is a small seaside village on the South coast of England, located between Eastbourne and Hastings. It has an excellent sunshine record and boasts lovely views round the bay. Even though it is a fairly small resort, it has many facilities including a good selection of village pubs and restaurants along with a handful of local shops including a bakery and chemist and is fortunate in that it is free from the hustle and bustle of larger resorts.

The beach itself is shingle with flat sands at low
tide, ideal for lovely relaxing walks or for a touch
of swimming, sunbathing and watersports. This is
a popular part of the coast especially with
couples and families.

Pevensey Bay is also a short distance from Eastbourne marina, otherwise known as Sovereign Harbour. The Waterfront area of the marina boasts a varied selection of restaurants, bars and café’s in which to unwind and watch the world (and their boat) sail by. You can also take a short ‘boat trip’ around the marina if the mood takes you. Adjacent to The Waterfront is the Sovereign Retail Park, which includes various retail outlets, a large supermarket, six screen cinema and restaurant. Ample parking can be found here, but it is a fairly easy and level bike ride from Pevensey Bay for those looking to use some pedal power.

Pevensey Bay and the surrounding area is also well known for its historic connections dating back to 1066 and the infamous William The Conqueror’s landing. For those with history as an interest, Pevensey Castle is worth a vists. Alternatively, for the Scientists amongst you, a trip to nearby Herstmonceaux Observatory Science Centre is certainly a must.
